This piece is inspired by a "Southwest adventure" my wife and I took a few years back going to visit friendsin Colorado. While traveling through Northern Arizona, I was completely overwhelmed by the moody atmosphere and raw beauty of Monument Valley. I wanted to capture that specific moment where the "First Light" begins to catch the desert brush against those iconic, looming mesas and mountains. This smaller oil painting captures that mood and feeling I can still remember from that monumental road trip.
